Floridians Getting Small Break On Insurance Bills Soon

We'll get a tiny break on insurance bills next year.

Florida is ending a charge on insurance bills that's been used to pay off claims from Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

The 1.3 percent emergency assessment charge shows up on most insurance bills including homeowners and auto insurance policies.

It will no longer appear on policies renewed or issued on or after Jan. 1, 2015.
